Kitten Foster Caregivers Urgently Needed!
Kitten Foster Caregivers Urgently Needed!

Love kittens? The Washington Humane Society (WHS) needs your help! You can help save lives by providing space and care for the more than 70 kittens in need during this busy summer season.

In the last week alone we have taken in over 75 kittens and 40 adult cats. As the open admission shelter in the District, we never turn away an animal who needs our help, but our space and resources are limited. We are calling on our caring community to provide an invaluable, life-saving service by simply opening your hearts and homes to kittens in need for a little while as we seek permanent homes for them.

Foster volunteers are vital members of the WHS community. Each time an animal is taken out of the adoption center and placed into a foster home, it provides space for another animal who needs special care and attention. Individuals, families, and businesses with the compassion and willingness to help needy animals are urged to contact WHS about serving as a foster volunteer. Foster terms can range from a few days or weeks to a month or more depending on the preferences of the volunteer and the needs of the individual animal.
Foster volunteers keep animals in their home, storefront, or office, providing basic care, food, and shelter. WHS provides routine preventative medical care, including spay/neuter services, vaccinations, heartworm or FeLV/FIV tests, and dewormer.
