State Highway Administration Rehabs Two Frederick County Bridges on I-270

This information is provided by The Maryland State Highway Administration:


(June 13, 2011) –The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is rehabilitating two bridges on northbound and southbound I-270 over MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) and Bennett Creek in Frederick County.  Both bridges are structurally sound but are in need of preventive maintenance to extend their service life after decades of carrying more than 82,000 vehicles a day.  Weather permitting the $8.9 million project will be completed in fall 2012.

According to news reports, the board at Dulles International Airport stands behind its decision to build an underground station because it would be more 1) convenient for travelers, and 2) attractive than an above ground station.

So, it behooves us to ask about the degree of perceived inconvenience. How would using an above ground metro station compare with:

Prince George’s County’s Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is conducting a countywide Pothole and Litter Blitz continuing through Friday, March 18, 2011.  The goal is to identify and fill potholes on and remove litter from all county-maintained roadways.
