Prince George's County Launches HIV Awareness Campaign

The Prince George’s County Health Department is hosting a press conference to launch its HIV Awareness Campaign, responding to the alarming levels of HIV cases in Prince George’s County.

“Maryland ranks fourth in the United States and territories for the number of HIV cases reported,” said Dr. Donald Shell, M.D., M.A., Health Officer for the Health Department. “We hope that this campaign will raise awareness about the prevalence of HIV in the area and urge residents to get tested and treated.”

The event takes place on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Local Pastor Challenges Church to Lose Weight

Deron Cloud, pastor of The Soul Factory, is offering a challenge to his local congregation in Forestville Md. and Stone Mountain Ga. to eat healthy, exercise and lose weight.

“The Mandate”, as Pastor Cloud calls it, began August 24th at 7:30pm and for the next 90 days Cloud will be leading his congregation to lose weight, improve family relations, organize their finances and strengthen their spirit. He has publically committed to losing 40-50 lbs over the 90 day period.
